Why is DVD+R not compatible with HP Pavilion Media Center m8100n?

When i wanted to burn a movie i made on to the DVD+R (using Windows DVD Maker) a little windows pops up saying, "The disc in your DVD burner is not a recordable DVD. Please insert a recordable or rewritable DVD." Also the DVD+R im using is called Verbatim. How do i fix this problem? Thanks for your help!
