Airplanes how come they don't?

how come they don't make some kind of a screen for the engines on airplanes? i see a lot of times where birds get suck in to the engines . i never have heard of no one trying to do this. and also make the windshield of the airplanes more stronger of a gl. maybe like bulletproof gl.
