Why is this less common in music?

I'll be completely honest with you... female bands just don't really appeal to the younger kids these days.... more are into pop and rap than rock. And the rock bands that do have females in them today (more like metal) arch enemy, otep, flyleaf, kitty.... they aren't really appealing to the ear of a teen. So i guess, most females have turned their musical side to rap or pop, instead of rock. However i have seen some local female bands in my area who are not to bad, but i don't think they would ever get noticed.
